What’s The Hold Up?
Jan 26th, 2010 by Geaked

A nougat filled treat of geeky goodness can be found here: Internet Traffic Report

The Internet Traffic Report has been a resource for tracking the ebb and flow of global Internet usage for quite sometime now.
If your data connection is choking on a YouTube download, or you can’t get your Yahoo! on, it may be time to check the international, real-time, binary flow. Higher scores (updated every 5 minutes), mean more Yin for your Yang.
So if your favorite beef jerky recipe site in Slovakia is moving at the speed of dial-up, don’t cuss your provider just yet. This may just mean someone’s sitting on the data cable on the other side of the world.
Or you have dial-up.

A Child’s-Eye View: Monsters
Jan 25th, 2010 by Geaked

As our five year old son was being tucked into bed tonight, he
mentioned the “M” word to Mom. The focal point of every child’s
nightmare: Creature under the bed. The Thing in the closet. A Shadowy
Figure tapping on a window pane. Running out of Mac & Cheese.

Having mentioned this on more than one occasion, Danica casually asked
him to describe this tormenting ogre. With pen and paper in hand, she
recorded Mason’s firsthand description of a Monster:

1 Blue Eye
1 Red Eye
1 Red Ear
5 Yellow Noses
10 Orange Foreheads
Thirteen Hundred Thousand Mouths
Whiskers: Pink
Horn: Brown
Clothing: Naked Purple (no fur)
Last Time Spotted: “13 Hundreds Acorns”

The only assumption Mom and Dad can make at this time is:

1) Back off on Dr. Seuss and The Muppets.
2) Learning to ‘tell time’ is next on the agenda.

What does your monster look like?

It’s a Binary Year
Jan 11th, 2010 by Geaked

It’s a binary year and if you use the following date format (mmddyy)
on a regular basis, you might want to slow down and double check your
work. This year includes: 010110, 011010, 011110, 100110, 101010,
101110, 110110, 111010, 111110.
And next year will be no exception with: 010111, 011011, 011111,
100111, 101011, 101111, 110111, 111011, along with the Grand Pooh-Bah
of them all: 111111. Anybody lucky enough to land a birthday on the
aforementioned?
