I love reading Craigslist Want Ads.  The architecture of wordsmithing at it’s finest.  Here is an example of an eclectic group of musicians looking for a drummer.

We’re heavily influenced by the likes of Chet Baker, Leonard Cohen, Billie Holiday, P.J. Harvey, The Pixies, Cap’n Jazz, Joan of Arc, Rachel’s, Hylozoists, Aloha et al.

I think ‘eclectic’ is a bit subdued.  Maybe ‘wildly diverse’ or ‘there is no way to describe what we do because we are so unique’.  But that wouldn’t work because you would need both a  zither and didgeridoo player.

Musicians are busy people.  It’s always helpful when looking for that prospective drummer to describe what the work load will be like.

We are currently recording an EP, have quite a few shows in the works, and plan on touring as much as humanly possible…

An EP?  As in ‘Extended Play‘?  As humanly possilbe?? That sounds like a lot of work.  Many drummers like to take extended breaks.  (This could be a potential client turn-off.)

After defining what this band is looking for in their new found percussionist, they take great pains to define what they DON’T want.

What you WOULDN’T be is anyone who relies on a double-bass pedal or has a million cymbals or would respond to this message like “U WANNA DRUMMER?? I WILL SHOW U HOW DRUMS R PLAYD!!!”

I personally would have added at least one ‘Large Gong’ and a ‘Dry Ice Machine’.  But that’s just me.
