Last One For July ’08

Posted by on July 31, 2008 at 8:47 pm.

Looking at my blog-to-calendar ratio for July I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ve fallen behind.  In an effort to squeeze one last measly post in before I go to bed, I’ll add this self reminder to this month’s meager lot:

I need to prune my Google Reader this weekend.  I’ve been using it as a big feed dump and I’m not keeping up with half of it.  It needs a meat and potatoes kinda layout.  The problem?  Websites that update multiple times a day are overwhelming my ‘unread’ numbers after a mere week.  I don’t need to feel like I’m falling behind and much of the content is not worth sifting through anyway.

There you have it.  And may this short note serve as an organizational reminder for those, like me, who have saved too much for their own good.

Sometimes it may be better to follow such websites and blogs on Twitter !
But unfortunately news sites such as the BBC/CBC/CNN could overwhelm your time line – in which case TweetDeck could be a viable option.

I’ve seen you mention TweetDeck on several occasions and now I will have to go investigate. Thanks Jaffer!

TweeDeck allows you to sort contacts into groups and display them in columns. I think this way there are less chances of missing out on important conversation.

I’ll give tweetdeck a go when I get home tonight. Interesting use of twitter.
