Memorial Day Weekend 2008
We were blessed with great weather this holiday weekend, so we took advantage by taking Mason to a Zoo and an outdoor Air Museum.
The Binder Park Zoo is located on the eastern outskirts of Battle Creek Michigan. I took this photo below of a Peacock gettin’ all jiggy wit it for his Peacockess. If you look closely, there is a lonely guy peacock looking on from behind (right side).
When we walked up to the platform overlooking some Mexican Wolves, Mason exclaimed, "Look at that BUCKET!" - referencing a shiny pale with water. Nature is in the eye of the beholder.
On Memorial Day we traversed to Willow Run Airport which is home to the Yankee Air Museum. A free tour of the grounds allowed visitors to get up close and personal with a nice array of vintage flying war machines. This next shot gives you some perspective of how big the 677 Flying Buttress is!
Actually, I just made up that name. It’s some Special Forces bomber though. See the people at the right reading the plaque? That’s something you don’t get to do with a 3 year old. So you have to make up the details on your own. Mason is standing with his mom - kneeling in the forefront. There were a couple of fly-overs by the Navy Bad Ass Squadron #205 and two, F-14.5 Hellfire Cat Flingers! Or something like that. It was fun.
