Google Profiling
January 3rd, 2007 by Geaked

Your Google visits are being captured. Stored away for a rainy day. Search engine queries, Gmail archives, and now the *new* Google Reader stats. That’s right, I logged into my (RSS) Google Reader page and was greeted with a new feature that logs my news reading tendencies. In typical Google fashion, my perusal of blogs and news sites was laid out before me with charts and gobbly-gook habit-stats. Reading Trends, Subscription Trends, Last 30 days, Time of Day and Day of Week. No surprise here. Just a reminder of the tracks we leave behind in Google Land.

I might as well lay out my reading habits for all to see:

Subscription Title: # Read, % Read

Inside Line: Automotive News 86, 56%
Lockergnome 36, 23%
alt.comp.freeware 24, 0%
Slashdot 23, 4%
Googling Google 18, 67%
SnapFiles 12 , 41%
xkcd.com 11, 85%
43 Folders 11, 61%
Weblog Tools Collection * 8, 27%

(*) I actually read more of Weblog Tools Collection than is represented here. I access this site directly and more often than not from links within the admin panel of my WordPress blogging program.

I enjoy Google Reader, don’t get me wrong. I’m just gently reminded of their understated ability to follow our footsteps.
