Ever so slowly the WWW is being used to store data and execute software functions. Some believe this represents a new wave of software use. Store your data online and use programs from any computer that is connected to the internet. Although many companies will charge for usage, many of them are currently free.
Here are a few.
Flash Earth

Although very slow on a dial-up connection, and not sanctioned by Google or Microsoft, the GUI has a nice simple intuitive feel. If you can’t get Google Earth to work for you, or you’re on a different computer trying to zoom in on your ex-girlfriend’s new digs, this might be for you.
WebNotes

This is a very simple note taking system that assigns you a URL after a quick registration. Easy to share notes if you share your URL. No security is set up, so anyone with your notes web address can see your notes. But this is very handy if you are switching PC’s or browsers often. Great for saving web snippets without having to open a software program. Look at the “Hints” page for a list of functionality. A good place to start if you’re new to this genre.
BackPackit
http://www.backpackit.com
Sign up is quick and easy and they give you enough functionality in the free version to really get a feel for how much you’ll use the program (pay versions offer file sharing, more storage, use of photos, etc.) Create lists, Notes, add pages, edit on the fly, determine who you want to share your info with, and set up notifications to your email or SMS to your cell phone. All of this from any PC with an internet connection and a browser.
It’s a great way to share info with others (several family members can edit a central grocery list) and there are great examples of how people are using this application at their site.
This is my app of choice currently. I’ll even share my Web Apps List I created there with you:
