Man, this was a busy weekend! Having a game plan on a weekend is a rare thing for us.
As mentioned in a previous post, raking leaves, burning leaves and watching more leaves fall, took up a good part of Saturday. Today we were in baby proofing the family room mode. I use that term loosely, as small minds become transfixed on what they SHOULDN’T get into. So there really is no such thing as “baby proofing”. It’s really an attempt to buy more time until we can race across the room to run interference. We typically had three ‘zones’ in which Mighty Mo would gravitate. Like a compass needle spinning to find North, Mason would pivot on his belly and leave his plethora of toys to go empty the CD rack or hoist himself up on the end table to grab a TV remote control. I think he hears Medusa calling him: “Mason! Over here! Over yonder! Here lies the unattended playground of your deepest yearning! Come thou… now-est!” (I’m only assuming what Medusa would say – with some old english thrown in for theatrical suspense.)
We also made trips up to our storage unit. Getting seasonal things out and putting seasonal things away. Hats, gloves, scarves and humidifiers were among the first to be fetched. I took down my new two-person hammock (with the 80 lb. frame) and boxed it all up knowing the excitement it will bring when spring arrives.
[image:141:l]Alas, we made time for pumpkin carving! Not just any oridinary pumpkin, but ALBINO pumpkins. They are actually called Luna’s.
[image:140:l]With a white skin and an orange innerd, they look quite striking during the day and light up nicely in the eve.
Topping out the evening I helped my wife as she prepared home made egg rolls and crab rangoons. A high-maintanence dinner for a high maintanence day and she new the key ingredient missing to help us unwind: the soundtrack to The Living Sea – a Miramax film with all songs performed by Sting. Her timing is impeccable. We knew then that music was the missing ingredient to our day.
