Too bad you have to schlepp through alot of sludge on the Net to find a good read. Today I discovered RudeCactus.com. The author has been penning this site for a couple of years and I find that he and I have alot in common. He and his wife just had a baby girl, their first. His entry “Lessons from Dadhood: Episode One” depicts a new father’s struggle being a first time dad. I totally related to this article. If you get a chance surf on over and check out his prose and photos. Definately adding this to my bookmarks for “bloggers to follow”.
On to SiteBar…
This little open-source program allows me to save (export) my browser bookmarks to the web. This way if I’m on any P.C. anywhere, (with internet access) I can access my bookmarks by simply navigating to the my URL (www.nead.us/neadlinks).
The other nice thing about this program is that it allows others to register (email verification and admin approval needed) and upload their bookmarks too. You can choose to have public and private views and it is highly configurable.
From their site:
SiteBar is a solution for people who use multiple browsers or computers and want to have their bookmarks available from anywhere without need to synchronize them or take them along. The bookmarks are stored on a server – this could be a public server or your own server running our free software. The bookmarks are displayable/modifiable in almost any standards compliant browser.
SiteBar allows you keeping links private (the default) while giving you possibility to grant access to your bookmarks to selected user groups or to everyone. You can maintain your personal, family, team, company or enterprise-wide bookmarks with flexible access rules, permissions and customizable design!
Using RSS feeds you may monitor what additions have been added to certain SiteBar folders or to the whole SiteBar installation.
If anyone is interested in registering and utilizing the program that I have up and running on my ISP, point your little clicker over to http://www.nead.us/neadlinks and select the Sign Up button.
You can view my favorites while there…just click on the + sign next to “Public Bookmarks” to show categories etc.
