Toothpaste for dinner. Drawings and T-shirt designs for those of us a bit “off-center”. My favorite T-shirt slogan is: “if i had dollar for every time i had 60 cents, i would be Canada.”

Mz.D and I used to keep profound quotes (of our own) on the fridge in Evanston. We had scralled them on napkins, scraps of paper, post-it notes, whatever we could find at the time - knowing if we didn’t historically record that creative spewage - it would be lost forever. Unfortunately we lost all of those scraps of paper when we moved about three times ago. There was one time when Mz.D was standing in the kitchen and I noticed that both of her hands were clentched in fists at her side. Not a normal fist, mind you, but that kind of fist kids make where they cover their thumbs with their fingers. I said to her, “Why do you make a fist that way - with your thumbs covered?”

Her immediate answer (as if she had been asked this a thousand times) was: “Other creatures are jealous of opposable thumbs.”

This became a fridge quote.

In fact Mz.D just found a small spiral notebook where we had penned some of these one-offs along with grocery lists.

A couple entries from this frayed (read: ‘fraid) archive are:

“The closet of ‘good taste’ has a lock on it.” - Sam

“Who does the dishes at The Last Supper?” - Sam

And in an effort to come up with that ultimate Rap Duo name we decided on: “Ice Col’ Milk and M.C. Low-Phat” Evidently we wanted to represent the National Dairy Council.

So pay attention to your friends and family and promote creative spewage! Write it down and display it proudly on a fridge near you! Who knows, maybe it will appear on a T-Shirt.
